New Work
Richard is currently sculpting ten life-size pirates for the Pirates of the Caribbean
Museum and Gardens in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Earlier this year he completed
a twice-life-size sculpture of "Blackbeard" for the museum.
"Dance" has been purchased for the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City,
Missouri. The piece will be a part of the permanent collection and will be on display at
the entrance of their new wing. "Dance" will be dedicated on September 26, 2004.
Hallier designed and sculpted three angels this year. Two were commissioned by the
Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, FL. The Third was commissioned by the
Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. Richard has also completed
a half-scale version of "Venus" this year.
He lives and works with his family in Boone, North Carolina.

2000-2003
New Work: "Venus", "Seated Bather", "Sage", "The Pursuit of Excellence", "Capriccio",
"The Girl with the Butterflies", ¼ scale "Mother & Child", a twice-life size
"Catamount" for Western Carolina University. Life-size Men's and Women's Tennis Players
and a life-size Golfer for UNC Charlotte. Commission for Crossnore Home for Children,
"Blest Be the Ties that Bind" and "Yosef" a 3X life-size piece for Appalachian State
University.
1989-1999
Produced over 70 life size figurative bronzes, ½ scale versions
of many of them. Some highlights include: One of the top three artists
at New York Art Expo, NC Arts Journal cover feature, Martin Luther King,
Jr. Memorial Commission, "Dance" NC School of the Arts Commission,
13 Life size bronze athletes for the University of North Carolina, the
Olympic Headquarters Entrance Piece (four figures), and a commission for
two figures at the Brook Green Gardens in South Carolina. Produced the
World's largest figurative silver casting.
1984-1988
Began Sculpting. Produced first life size figurative bronze. Produced
hundreds of contemporary abstract stone sculptures and bronze abstract
figurative pieces in limited editions. He exhibited regionally and nationally
and became included in many corporate collections and museums: NCNB corporate
collections, Wachovia Bank, R.J. Reynolds, Northern Telecom, Hickory NC
Museum of Art, and many others.
1981-1984
President of Richard Hallier and Associates, Boone, NC. Multimedia design
and fabrication firm, specializing in logo design, printed production
materials, landscape design, municipal furnishings, identification, directional
systems, architectural treatments and lighting.
1977-1981
President, Environmental Designers and Planners, Ft. Myers, FL. Established
full service design and fabrication firm. Client included Finton White
Architects, Rosenburg-Scullery Landscape architects, McBride, Parker &
Mudget, architects, Mariner Corporation and Southeast Plantation.
1971-1977
President, Graphic Systems Inc. Hilton Head, SC. Multimedia design and
fabrication firm. Developed alternative design and fabrication concepts
for major corporate identities. Licensed General Contractor. Designed
and built many homes on Hilton Head Island.
1969-71
President, Carolina Sign Company, Inc. Incorporation of fine art concepts
in the production of commercial projects including: Hilton Head Island,
Shipyard Plantation, Palmetto Dunes Resort, and Sea Pines.
